lol yes it is.
but my tast in metal is “deeper” than metallica:), i listen to some progressive death metal like opeth or even melo death ^^.
and thnx for the recomendation!
@tarrek, being a big rock fan but enjoying pretty much everything i would reccomend Wes Montgomery. Quite bluesy so is a good progression from metal. This may be a big leap ie Metallica to modal jazz is a big change
@tarrrek Golf the magic rabbit mentioned a lot of them, but there is also Pat Metheny, Django Reinhardt, Joe Pass, George Benson, (all guitarists) Victor Wooten (Bass) and also Benny Goodman and pianists Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea are quite cool :]
@tarrrek Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Louis Armstrong, Dizzee Gillespie, Art Tatum, Charles Mingus are all good if you want to try them.
Then there are the jazz singers…but they are a whole different kettle of fish…
hello^^
i m a metalhead and i want to try some thing new,so i thaught that jazz would be a perfect start.
any recomndations?any specefic artists?

Dorian Mode.
All the modes were named by Pythagoras and therefore have a Grecian base.
In jazz, we call these modes:
Ionian, Dorian, Phyrgian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, & Locrian.
