I heard Fima play the Rach 3 with the BSO under MTT at Tanglewood last weekend. He is a phenominal pianist, with fire and poetry in the same hands and heart. He is my new favorite pianist, and he studied with my former favorite pianist Rudolf Serkin! I was hoping he would play the Chipin Etude as an encore but, alas, it was too hot I guess.

This piece is so well-played considering the immense difficulty of it.

it is not over-theatralic
just well played
i.e. concerning the speed

Agreed fantastic version, I like how he really made the melody stand out and keep the LH a almost like hum.
Of course there are harder pieces, ie Cziffras version of Flight of the Bumblee.
Still an outstanding pianist!!!

i like it how it keeps rolling… and its a bit too fast for comfort making it a true allegro con fuoco.. beautifully done
September 15th, 2009 at 11:43 am
Now this is a true Allegro CON FUOCO…

Chill. Nobody is paying you for your critique. Just listen to the music. Its not like you can get even close to playing like him anyway. Shame on you for trolling.
